Frequently Asked Questions

How long can I record for?
With the included 4GB memory card, you can record 40 minutes of full high definition footage. You can record at a lower setting for more time but we recommend considering extra memory to record up to 10.5 hours of memories. You’ll probably wear out before the camera does.

Does this have wifi/bluebooth/app?
We designed this camera to be super simple. It does not have bluetooth, wifi, or an app. No need to configure or sync convoluted apps. With the ViDi, you can configure all the settings from the camera itself with its easy-to-use menu. Simply point and shoot to start recording.

I got my ViDi as part of the Kickstarter and it’s a great little camera that really rivals much more expensive action cameras. Now that GoPro is pulling their least expensive camera, ViDi is the best entry level action camera. Shoots great 1080P video. Of course, you get all the stuff you need in the package to get started.

One thing I would recommend is don’t use the waterproof case unless you need it. It muffles the sound and sometimes the plastic makes the picture blurry.

    (verified owner):

Since my cell can’t be an action camera, Vidi worked out great! I like the view screen on the back too, that’s a major perk. Also, it was nice to get all the accessories together, instead of having to buy them independently. Price point was reasonable and overall I would recommend it.

Yes this totally met my expectations i love it ! I took it for my summer trip and the picture defenitly came out descent and the video recording under water worked out perfectly fine :) if you dint want to invest in a go pro than a ViDi camera is best for you .

I love my VIDi action camera, and is indeed “The People’s Action Camera.” It is great for the everyday normal person. I have used my ViDi in different settings such as hiking in the mountains, swimming in a pool, and also when swimming in a river, and it worked well in each area. The ViDi is easy to use and I love the Time-Lapse mode (when buying the camera I didn’t read anything about there being Time-Lapse so when I got the camera it was a pleasant surprise).

The battery life holds up well for me and if my battery gets low I use a portable charger to charge it up, and while recording, the LCD screen shuts off to save battery while recording, and what’s great is that it does actually come straight out of the box fully charged.

When using the waterproof casing to capture video underwater it was hard to see the surroundings in the swimming pool. I am not certain if it was the camera or the pool.

All the specs that the camera has are great, except I don’t like the small LCD screen and the one-button zoom, otherwise, I still really like the camera.

The ViDi is an easy camera to capture amazing videos and photos.

Note: If the waterproof casing is on when recording video the sound will be muffled.
If the camera is taken to high altitudes in the waterproof casing make sure it’s taken out of the case before going up and before going down because the built up pressure makes it hard to take off the case.

Photography and video has been a hobby of mine for several decades. I’ve had/have many fine cameras and camcorders over the years. This area of action video has always intrigued me. My wife and I are SCUBA divers and we love to hike. With a trip to Mt Rainier planned in a couple of weeks, I decided to take the plunge and after doing some research, decided on the ViDi. It wasn’t a huge plunge at only $99.00, especially when compared to some of my other cameras.

The camera comes ready to go. A 4 gig card is already installed with plenty of juice in the battery. First thing you’ll want to do is get a 32 gig card for it. But you can literally take it out of the packaging and start shooting. The camera comes already inside it’s water resistant case. They say it’s good for 30 feet under. I’m sure I’ll be testing that at some point. Probably next year in Hawaii.

I think the user manual should have been in the box. All there was, was a single card labeled Quick Start. But in their defense, it’s pretty dang simple to use. So it only took me a little time to “fiddle” with it and you can download the manual. But I’m pretty tech savvy. It may take someone else longer. The menus are very simplistic. Every selection is available within one to two layers of the menu. This is important when you need to make a quick change.

So far, I’ve had fun with the time elapse function. I set the camera to record a frame every half second and place the camera next to my bird feeder and let it record for an hour. This amounted to a four minute video to see all the birds that visited over that hour. A fun way to see it. The video was very clear and at 1080p, filled my large flat screen.

It’s a wide angle lens, which makes sense for this type of camera and is pretty standard with other makers. As such, you’ll find that horizons have a bit of a curve. But, again, this is an action camera and it will not be replacing my DSLR and video camera. But it will be fun. And with the case, I don’t have to worry about water, dirt, mud, etc. I can take it places I wouldn’t want to drag my real expensive and bulky gear.

Last spring I was fishing in a canoe. Had my cell phone in my pocket to take those fish pics. Canoes can capsize pretty easy. After that little swim, my cell phone was useless. That cost me more than the ViDi I just picked up. That’s what will be in my pocket for future canoe trips!

I purchased this item for my son for his birthday. He has been begging me for an action camera but I was unsure if he was ready for a super expensive Go Pro Camera. I saw this set with everything included and figured let me see if he is good with this one. This is a great camera with great tools to go with it. It was just perfect as a starter Action Camera for him. He really loves it as do I so far! The size, model and everything included were just perfect for him. I did receive this item at a reduced/discounted rate in exchange for an honest product review on the Vidi Waterproof LCD Action Camera.

It is not a Go Pro, but then again it didn’t cost an arm and a leg. Works great and water resistant too…..

    (verified owner):

First thing to note: It is tiny. Without the waterproof case it measures less than 2″ by 2 1/2″. Honestly, I will probably never have it out of the case because the camera seems too small to fit your hands well without it. It is very simple, button wise. Takes just about five minutes to figure out all of the functions and comes with a quick start guide if you need it. The packaging it come in definitely makes you feel like you spent big bucks on it. It has very wide view lens, which is neat. I can sit on my couch and get a good picture of my entire living room end to end. I’ll be updating this review in about three weeks after a vacation to the ocean- I bought it specifically for that purpose, having always used my iphone for pictures up until now. I obviously couldn’t take the iphone to the ocean with me, so i’m really exited to put this little fella through the paces and see what it can do. Underwater and all. See you in three weeks with an update!

I purchased this camera at a discount in exchange for an honest review. This camera is a good deal for the pricing. It is very small and compact. It is easy to use. The buttons offer no “back,” which means you have to scroll through the entire menu to get to what you want when you accidentally pass it up. Set-up was easy. It came charged and ready to go. My daughter enjoys using it in the pool.

    (verified owner):

I was very disappointment with the ViDi LCD Action Camera. The still photos are no better than an iPhone which was okay. But the quality of the video was horrible. The ViDi Action Camera is supposed to record at 1080P HD, but the quality was worst than my iPhone 6S. The video images were pixelated. I also did buy a 64 GB micro memory card in which the camera did not recognize until I had to format it. Also, sometimes when I try to view a video on the camera and delete it, the camera would give me an error message. When the ViDi camera is in the waterproof case, the camera will not pick up any audio. I tested the camera in the waterproof case on a golf course and when reviewing the video footage, you would have thought that I was recording with no audio or mute.

I didn’t purchase the Vidi action camera on Amazon, but through the Vidi website before it was offered here. It’s nice that they are offering it on Prime now, as it took two weeks to get mine through the company. All that aside, I’ve been taking my Vidi through some paces, and I have to say it is an awesome little action cam. Setup is very simple, and after setting date and time, you are ready to record. Recording is bulletproof simple, seriously it couldn’t get any easier. All you do is press and hold the power button, then press the record button, and you are live! I haven’t used it for my snowboarding excursions yet, but it works great mounted on my Harley handle bars (note: all mounts and accessories have to be purchased separately). You can find any mount or accessories here, or use any other GoPro accessories you currently have, as this camera is compatible with them. In the box is what’s pictured; the camera, a 4GB SD card, the charging/transfer cord, waterproof case, and the selfie stick.

This is my first action camera, so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I’ve messed around with my friends Hero Sessions, and a couple others, and this is by far the simplest one to operate. The HD video quality is good. I just viewed the videos I took, on my MacBook Air, and the quality is outstanding. I’m very impressed with the simplicity, and quality of this camera, and at only a $99.00 price tag, you really can’t get better. Plus it’s an American company out of Utah, so there’s that too.

I only have two small complaints: First my MacBook Air didn’t recognize the camera, when plugging it in via the included USB cord. I had to use my micro SD card reader and use the SD card slot in order to transfer the videos. The second small complaint is the tiny 4GB micro SD card that comes with the camera. Recording at 1080 takes up space fast, and I was only able to record about 20 min. worth of video before the card was full. I had an 8 GB card on hand, and was able to record a lot more using that. I plan on purchasing a 64 GB card in the near future. I’ll run out of battery before I can fill one of those bad boys up.

Another thing to keep in mind, is not to compare this to a GoPro. It’s not a GoPro. There is no Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth connectivity on it. It’s designed to be simple and no frills, but don’t let this deter you, as the quality is right up there, and you don’t get the obvious narrow fish bowl looking videos like I’ve seen on some GoPro videos, and the price tag is significantly less. All around great camera, great company, and I’m happy with my purchase.

Solid action camera for the price you pay. Everything you needed is included right out of the box. With that being said, here are some pros and cons.

    Pro:
-video quality is good for the price
    -picture quality is decent
-action camera has a very sleek and nice appeal
-no need to buy anything extra to start using
    -simple to use
    -price is hard to beat
    -waterproof
-LCD to see what your shooting

    Con:
-bad on picking up sound inside the case
-the camera spins when it’s on the stick

    DISCLAIMER:

I received this product at a discount price in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

I’ve had the ViDi for a week now and have used it every day. It is very light weight, and easy to use. Right off the bat, the packaging gives it a high quality feel, and the fact that it comes with an SD card, extension pole, and pre-charged battery is awesome – great for getting out to film and test it out immediately. It comes with the HDR image feature turned on, and i’ve found that it helps in certain situations, and works better turned off in other situations, but that’s just something you’ll figure out through trial and error. The exposure adjustment is great to get a quality image anywhere from a dark room to a sunny day on the snow, just don’t forget to change the exposure back afterwards. overall the image quality is great, and at a price of $99 it is well worth it.

I have been extremely impressed with my ViDi camera. I found this camera is better than my GoPro Hero, and the ViDi LCD was even cheaper! Battery lasts for a few hours of use and the camera works right out of the box. I love how ViDi includes a stick right out of the box too. I recommend anyone looking for a quality action camera for a great price to go get a ViDi.

I couldn’t decide if I really wanted to get a camera like this (my life isn’t that exciting), but I decided to try it out and it has been so much fun! I have taken it hiking and skiing and it has worked great. Best thing is that is has a screen so I can actually see what I am filming. In the sun and snow the image was a little over exposed but I just changed the white balance settings and it fixed the problem. Overall I think it is an awesome camera! Especially for its price!

The camera is just as advertised. Took me very little time to figure out the buttons. Note: there isn’t a “back” button. Just scroll through and let it repeat until you get to the setting you want, including the date and time. Bought the 64GB card and to get that to work, go to the gear icon and push format.
I’ve loved the time-lapse feature. Use the .5 if you want to film your street or sidewalk.
The service department called me back quickly when my camera froze. I was obviously pushing too many buttons. I let the battery run down and it fixed itself, but if it happens again, I just stick a pin into the teeny little hole on the camera. It will reset. Nonetheless, the service department emailed me a couple of times and called again just to make sure. GREAT !!!!!before it was offered here. It’s nice that they are offering it on Prime now, as it took two weeks to get mine through the company. If you want an action camera for simple things in life, like hiking, going to the pool, the beach, on a trip, etc., then the ViDi is for you. It’s VERY easy to use, it comes with a selfie stick, and the most important thing: IT’s AFFORDABLE!! Although there are a few things that obviously could make the camera better, like WiFi compatibility, etc, for the price, you get a GOOD camera! If you’re a pretty normal person who doesn’t wanna throw $500 into an “action camera”, then buy a ViDi!!

This product is great and costs a lot less than other name brand action cameras. The video is clear but has a slight fish eye look to it. I have always wanted an action camera but never had to guts to shell out the money for one like a GoPro. Then a friend told me about ViDi. I ordered one and it honestly has lived up to all the expectations I had for a great action camera.
Right from the packaging you can tell you are getting something great, the closest thing I could compare it too is the quality of Beats Headphones packaging. You then open the package and are greeted by cheap feeling plastic packaging (my only complaint) holding this absolutely wonderful looking camera and it’s accessories.
Everything promised came in the box and I was able to use the camera right away. With the brief quickstart guide card and a little intuition I was able to figure out all of the features.
The screen on the back of the camera makes it super easy to see what you are filming and whether it is still shots or action video the camera captures high quality pictures and film.
I found my new favorite toy for capturing all the everyday adventure memories I want to create and let me tell you, I am definitely not the extreme sports type. It is so easy, anyone (a child even) can enjoy this camera.
It floats, it goes underwater, it goes where ever you need it to go (it has universal mount compatibility). It truly is the people’s action camera.
    Sincerely,
    The average everyday adventurer

For about $100 this is a decent entry camera. I wanted a decent action camera but didn’t want to shell out $300-$500 for the GoPro. This camera takes decent pictures and videos. However, maybe my settings are off but the video quality doesn’t look like 1080p. This thing did come with a 4Gb micro SD card and the extendable selfie stick. I don’t know why they even bother with the 4Gb SD card but the storage is too small to be usable for recording videos. The selfie stick is pretty flimsy and wobbles a bit when you extend it with the camera attached. Like another reviewer said, this thing is has no sound when you put it in the waterproof case. My one pet peeve with this camera are the buttons. They look pretty flimsy and I’m worried that they won’t last very long. In addition, there really is no back button so if you are trigger happy like me and tend to hit the buttons too quick you’ll have to scroll through until it starts back from the beginning. I haven’t had it for that long to vouch for the durability but I will update my review if this thing craps the bed. For now, it does the job and I like the price.

Disclosure: I did get a slight discount in exchanged for my honest review. Other than the discount, I do not get compensated for writing this review. I buy a lot of stuff online and depend on honest review to pick quality items and avoid junk items. As such, I try to be fair and based my review on the product quality and price point.

26 Great little camera! it is exactly what they advertise it to be. it takes good video, probably not as good as some of the high costing action cams but its not supposed to do that. I purchased this camera to take video of my kids at the swimming pool and on hikes and things of that nature. this camera is perfect for that. the battery doesn’t last super long, maybe an hour. I have the battery banks for my cell phone and they work perfectly for the Vidi camera as well, just a quick recharge and you are good to go again. waterproof case works great and it does float. it muffles the sound a bit but that’s ok. the mount adapter works great so it will work with all the mounts. its easy to work. I am still getting used to holding the button to start recording but everything works great. awesome camera for the price!

  29. 4 out of 5

    (verified owner):

I’ve had this camera for almost a week now and I think it is decent. I have never and will never buy a high-end sports action camera, but I also don’t want crappy vids and pics. I think the ViDi offers a great middle ground between price and quality. If you buy this, go ahead and get a class 10 micro SD card to go with it, because the 4GB microSD that’s included isn’t all that great. The extender (aka selfie stick) has no way of snapping a photo so you’ll have to set the timer. It also is very light which means that when the camera is attached to it, it’ll rotate from the weight of the camera. The case is soundproof which I appreciate because that means it’s truly airtight and therefore waterproof. My camera arrived in the default mode and was taking 3MP quality pics, so I had to go in and change it to 12MP. I like that it gives you this option seeing as how everyone doesn’t have the same storage capabilities. I feel that the screen could’ve been made to be 2 inches but that’s just my preference. Also the lack of accessories included is underwhelming, but I knew that going in and purchased anyway. Overall, it is a good option for those not looking to spend a lot of money and I recommend this buy! I did receive this at a discount in exchange for my honest review.

It’s handy to have if you simply need footage of cool stuff you’re doing, but it’s not exactly stunning footage. It’s fun and intuitive to use, but being someone who works with “media” a lot (video, photo, and audio), it just looks like cell phone footage. I am happy to say, though, you can take it anywhere. It’s tough and comes with a free waterproof housing, so you really can’t go wrong if you just need an action cam to document your activities. I let my kids take it on a trampoline with the sprinkler on under it and it came out unscathed. Because the customer service was fast and excellent and it really is very durable and easy to use, I’ll give it 4 stars.
